We are looking for a versatile, detail-oriented, hardworking and highly-organized Financial officer who will be responsible for managing Shoppyrex financial transactions and records and ensuring that the company’s financial records are accurate and up to date including tasks related to preparing financial statements, maintaining records, reconciling bank statements, providing strategic guidance, forecasting budgets, analyzing current trends, and developing strategies that maximize profits and minimize risks

Position Summary

The successful candidate must be a detail-oriented individual with excellent problem-solving skills, possess advanced knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, have the ability to use accounting software and spreadsheets, and have exceptional organizational skills.

Considering the culture of ownership and accountability within SHOPPYREX, this person should be comfortable taking the initiative when faced with administrative decisions.

  • You will be responsible for Managing the company's financial systems and processes, including income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flow. This includes analyzing and interpreting financial data, identifying trends and variances, and preparing reports for management review.
  • Monitor and analyze company financial performance, including tracking key financial metrics such as revenue, expenses, and profitability
  • Oversee all financial operations, ensuring they are carried out in an efficient and effective manner.
  • You will also be responsible for Monitoring and reviewing financial records for accuracy
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies, advice and guidance

Day to day, you’ll be working with and continuously managing Shoppyrex financial transactions and records and ensuring that the company’s financial records are accurate and up to date.

You’ll be accountable for these KPIs:

  • Gross margin percentage: This measures the profitability of Shoppyrex products or services, calculated as the difference between revenue and cost of goods sold divided by revenue.
  • Operating profit margin: This measures the profitability of Shoppyrex operations, calculated as operating income divided by revenue.
  • Accounts receivable turnover: This measures how quickly Shoppyrex is collecting its accounts receivable, calculated as annual credit sales divided by average accounts receivable.
  • Inventory turnover: This measures how quickly Shoppyrex is selling its inventory, calculated as cost of goods sold divided by average inventory.
  • Days sales outstanding (DSO): This measures how long it takes Shoppyrex to collect its accounts receivable, calculated as accounts receivable divided by average daily credit sales.
  • Net profit margin: This measures the profitability of Shoppyrex after accounting for all expenses, calculated as net income divided by revenue.
  • Gross profit margin: This measures the profitability of shoppyrex products or services before accounting for operating expenses, calculated as gross profit divided by revenue.
  • Revenue growth: This measures the increase in a Shoppyrex revenue over a specific period of time, calculated as the current period's revenue divided by the same period in the previous year.
  • Cash and cash flow management: This measures Shoppyrex ability to generate cash and manage cash flow effectively, including cash flow from operations, financing activities, and investing activities.
  • Customer acquisition cost (CAC): This measures the cost of acquiring a new customer, calculated as total sales and marketing expenses divided by the number of new customers acquired.
  • Lifetime value of a customer (LTV): This measures the total value a customer will bring to a company over their lifetime, calculated as the average revenue per customer multiplied by the average customer lifespan.
  • Working capital management: This measures Shoppyrex ability to manage its short-term assets and liabilities effectively, such as managing inventory levels, accounts payable and receivable, and cash balances
  • Cost of goods sold (COGS): This measures the cost of the products or services sold to customers, including direct materials, direct labor, and overhead expenses.
  • Order fulfillment rate: This measures the rate at which a Shoppyrex is able to fulfill customer orders, calculated as the number of orders fulfilled divided by the number of orders received.
  • Marketing ROI: This measures the return on investment for the Shoppyrex marketing efforts, calculated as the revenue generated by marketing efforts divided by the cost of those efforts.
  • Investment in Research and Development: This measures Shoppyrex investment in research and development as a percentage of revenue, calculated as R&D expenses divided by revenue.
  • Income statement trend analysis: This measures Shoppyrex financial performance over time, including revenue growth, gross margin, operating income, and net income.
  • Cash flow statement trend analysis: This measures Shoppyrex cash flow over time, including cash flow from operations, financing activities, and investing activities.
  • Forecasting and planning: This measures Shoppyrex ability to forecast and plan for future financial performance, including revenue, expenses, and profitability.
  • Risk management: This measures Shoppyrex ability to identify, assess, and manage risks, including financial risks such as currency fluctuations, interest rate changes, and credit risk.
  • Cost management: This measures Shoppyrex ability to control and minimize its costs, including direct costs such as Shipping/logistics, and indirect costs such as overhead and administrative expenses.
  • Budgeting and forecasting: This measures Shoppyrex ability to create and manage budgets and forecasts, including revenue, expenses, and profitability.

Please You MUST be:

  • High energy / high EQ, with the ability to Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flow.
  • Proficient in accounting and financial analysis
  • Excited and experienced to deliver top-notch service
  • Systems-oriented; a long-term decision-maker; you’re not satisfied solving the same challenge more than once; you fix it the first time & create a process to fix it forever
  • The capacity to work independently and collaboratively without compromising quality or accuracy.

NOTE: This position is FULL-TIME and VIRTUAL. Meaning you work from home The team here at Shoppyrex is located all over the country. Preference for this position is someone in Lagos/Abuja

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements: You must have a solid understanding of accounting principles, including double-entry accounting and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience with ecommerce systems and platforms: You should have experience working with ecommerce systems and platforms, such as Shopify, Magento, and WooCommerce, in order to effectively manage financial transactions and data.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: You must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills in order to identify trends, patterns, and discrepancies in financial data, and to make recommendations for improvements.
  • Proficiency in Excel: You must have a strong proficiency in Excel, as well as other spreadsheet software, in order to be able to analyze and manage large amounts of data.
  • Attention to detail: You must pay attention to detail in order to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records, and identify errors and discrepancies.
  • Strong communication skills: You must have strong communication skills in order to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders, such as management and the business owner.
  • Knowledge of inventory management: You should have knowledge of inventory management in order to track and manage the cost of goods sold.
  • Familiarity with accounting software: You must be familiar with accounting software, such as QuickBooks, Xero, and Wave, in order to efficiently manage financial transactions and data.
  • Understanding of ecommerce business models: You should have an understanding of ecommerce business models, such as B2C and B2B, in order to effectively manage financial transactions and data.

  • Knowledge of cost accounting: You should have knowledge of cost accounting in order to effectively manage the company's costs and improve profitability.
  • Understanding of financial technology (fintech) and its impact on ecommerce: You must have an understanding of financial technology and its impact on ecommerce, including digital payments, blockchain, and artificial intelligence, in order to stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments.
  • Familiarity with payroll and employee benefits: You must be familiar with payroll and employee benefits in order to effectively manage the financial aspects of the company's human resources.
  • Knowledge of financial risk management: You must have knowledge of financial risk management in order to identify and mitigate potential financial risks for the company.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for Directing and overseeing the financial activities of Shoppyrex.
  • You will Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flow.
  • You will Oversee and Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable by ensuring that all accounts payable and accounts receivable are managed properly and that payments are received and made on time.
  • Manage month and year-end close processes and prepare timely financial statements.
  • You will be responsible for budgeting and forecasting Shoppyrex Financial performance by working with management to develop budget targets, analyzing financial data to identify trends and variances, and preparing reports for management review.
  • You will be responsible for Reviewing and verifying the accuracy of invoices and other financial documents and ensuring that all transactions are properly recorded.
  • You will Oversee all financial operations, ensuring they are carried out in an efficient and effective manner.
  • You will Track and Monitor cash flow/ liquidity to ensure that there are sufficient funds available to meet the company’s financial obligations.
  • Prepare and file sales tax returns and other regulatory documents as required. This includes collecting and reviewing supporting documentation, preparing and filing required documents, and working with regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Provide financial analysis and support for marketing campaigns and promotions.
  • You will be responsible for Providing financial analysis and support for international expansion and global business operations.
  • You will be responsible for the preparation of audit materials and supporting the auditing process to provide information, review audit findings, and implement recommendations as needed.with the action on matters which fall within the CEO’s responsibility – chasing responses, and triggering follow-up action.
  • Provide support to other departments such as logistics and operations by assisting with financial analysis and reporting, providing guidance and support on financial matters, and working with them to ensure alignment with overall financial objectives
  • Provide financial training and support to other employees in the organization.
  • You will be responsible for Monitoring and analyzing company financial performance by tracking key financial metrics such as revenue, expenses, and profitability and recommending strategies for improvement.
